Delightful Soursop Juice

IMG_2048-1.JPGThe juice of the soursop is so delicious and unique. I thought I’d share the recipe that we use in Haiti for Jus Corrosol.

INGREDIENTS

1 medium Soursop, ripe approx 2 cups

3 cups water

1/16 tsp freshly ground nutmeg

1/8 tsp salt

Sugar to taste

milk, optional

Serves 4

DIRECTIONS

Peel the soursop and put the flesh into a bowl.Mash with a potato masher or a large spoon, just to break down the flesh. Leave seed in the pod.

Place in a blender and add 2 cups water. Blend quickly, so as to avoid breaking the seeds.Strain juice well to separate the seed and fibers. Add remaining water. Add sugar as desired and a little salt. Grate nutmeg and stir together well.

Chill. Serve over ice cubes. Delicious with milk*.

*milk per serving 1/4 cup per glass

Note: Soursop has the amazing ability to make you fall asleep, so do not drink this if you need to stay alert. Excellent for drinking in the evening as it will ensure that you have a great nights sleep.
